Canadian Pacific Came to Columbus Wisconsin
Last night, NBC15's Meredith Barack hosted a television interview with JD Milburn, officer for the Columbus Downtown Development Corporation. He talked about what was expected when the Canadian Pacific holiday train stopped in Columbus last night at 9:05 p.m. (The interview took place just after 6 p.m.) Those expectations included a holiday stroll, crafts for kids and adults, a holiday book reading, hot chocolate, and what he referred to as an “awesome experience” when locals saw the Canadian Pacific holiday train and the music that would go along with it, including a rock n’ roll band.
The train was expected to remain in Columbus for 45 minutes. This year’s event was also expected to attract more people than last year because the train would be stopping in Columbus at around 9 p.m. opposed to about 11 p.m. last year. Approximately 2,000-3,000 people were expected for the event. There are no updates yet on how many people showed up. The train will be making other stops today, including Portage at 1:15 p.m., Wisconsin Dells at 2:45 p.m., Mauston at 4:15 pm., and Tomah at 5:30 p.m.
There is a brand recognition angle here, but the real takeaway is that Canadian Pacific is doing something positive for the community and doing it well, which is almost always a sign of quality management.
